Vishal Bhagat lived life fully, understanding and persevering through many difficult times as a young man with Juvenile Diabetes. Vishal found an opportunity to enlighten us with his vision to raise awareness of the disease and raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation while attending the University of Texas in Austin. His vision came forth in the idea of an intermural flag football tournament directed at having a great event while informing people of the disease and raising funds for the JDRF. His involvement in and dedication to a service organization in Austin assisted in making the event a success. In fact, the event is known as the "Sugar Free Bowl" and is now a significant event for the JDRF as it is held at various college campuses, including University of Texas, University of Texas A&M, University of Texas-Dallas, University of Oklahoma, and Louisiana State University. Continue the tradition, and share in the memorial of Vishal Bhagat.
We invite you to participate in the 2nd annual Vishal Bhagat Memorial Golf Tournament held on the weekend of September 21st-23rd.
The Inaugural Vishal Bhagat Golf Tournament was held in his honor the weekend of November 17-19, 2006, with a special dedication by Congressman Solomon Ortiz. Numerous volunteers, donations from generous sponsors and participants, an a well run event allowed us to raise over $100,000. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was the primary beneficiary. A special Thanks to everyone who made the first tournament a huge success.
Our commitment was not to have just one great event, but to begin a tradition honoring and remembering Vishal while sharing in the camaraderie and comfort of family, friends, and associates and raising money for charity, as Vishal would have done.
The second Annual Vishal Bhagat Memorial golf tournament is scheduled for September 21-23. We welcome you again, and encourage you to come join us in this great event as a Sponsor, Golft Participant, or Spectator. This will be a weekend of remembering, caring and sharing.
